Подразделение по организации работы прессы во многом полагается на помощь волонтеров. Для обеспечения работы СМИ на зимних Играх может потребоваться до 600 волонтеров-специалистов. Волонтеры работают в ГПЦ и на соревновательных объектах, а некоторые волонтеры, помогающие ОСН, привлекаются к сбору информации уже за 18 месяцев до Игр. В составе волонтерского корпуса должно быть как можно больше специалистов, имеющих опыт работы в таких областях, как журналистика, связи с общественностью, фотография и спорт.

Press Operations staffing will depend heavily on volunteers. For the Winter Games up to 600 specialist media volunteers may be required. They will work in the MPC and competition venues, with some ONS volunteers starting on research projects 18 months before the Games. Media professionals in the fields of journalism, public relations, photography and sports should fill as many other volunteer roles as possible.

Для обеспечения своевременного пресечения теневого маркетинга Оргкомитет «Сочи-2014» будет осуществлять программы мониторинга. В частности, Оргкомитет планирует следующее:
• Размещение на сайте Оргкомитета «Сочи-2014» формы для информирования о нарушениях, которую смогут заполнять пользователи.
• Привлечение внешних агентов для мониторинга нарушений во всех СМИ, включая электронные СМИ, прессу, Интернет и, по мере возможности, новые СМИ.
• Установление рабочих отношений с правоохранительными органами для обеспечения помощи в надзоре за использованием и незаконным использованием символики Игр.

To ensure that all ambush marketing is caught early, Sochi 2014 will implement infringement monitoring programs. In particular, Sochi 2014 intends to:
• Create an infringement notification form on the Sochi 2014 website for the public to use
• Employ external agents to monitor infringements in all relevant media including broadcast, print media, online and, if possible, new media
• Build close relations with the relevant enforcement agencies to ensure they assist in helping to control the use and misuse of the Olympic marks.
